This Giving Tuesday, Help Us Bring Comfort and Connection

Receiving a life-limiting diagnosis or losing a loved one can feel isolating, overwhelming, and deeply painful. At Beth Donovan Hospice, we believe no one should face these moments alone. We create a compassionate community where individuals and families find support, comfort, and dignity.

How We Make a Difference

Here’s how your generosity directly impacts those we serve:

In-Home Visiting Program
For individuals who are unable to leave their homes, our trained volunteers provide care, companionship, and practical support. This year, we supported 23 in-home clients, ensuring they felt cared for and connected, even in the comfort of their own space. These visits offer a lifeline of human connection during what can be an isolating time.

Day Hospice Programs
We create joyful moments for those living with life-limiting illnesses. From mini-horse visits to therapeutic art and themed meals, our programs bring comfort and connection to clients and their families

Caregiver Support Program
Through a monthly support group, education, workshops and retreats we support those who are caring for individuals at the end of life. This year this included therapeutic art workshops, caregiver burnout workshop, yoga & sound bath retreats, ice cream socials, coffee and lunches. During these times caregivers can share the rewards and challenges of caring for someone.

Grief and Bereavement Support
Grief can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be faced alone. This year, we provided 227 counselling sessions and introduced programs like Pet Loss Support, Walking Groups, Drop-In Support Groups, Art Therapy, Guided journaling, Cooking for One and Music Therapy, offering meaningful ways to process loss and heal.

Memorial Events to Honour Loved Ones
Each year we offer memorial events. An important opportunity for the community to come together to share their grief. This year we held an Overdose Awareness Memorial in August and Lanterns of love memorial in October which brought over 100 people together to remember and celebrate loved ones. Guests released water lanterns with individual messages, and found comfort in community gatherings.

Medical Equipment Lending Program
This year, we lent out 503 pieces of equipment, such as walkers, commodes and transfer wheelchairs, to help families care for loved ones at home with dignity and ease.

Why Monthly Giving Matters

Your monthly support ensures that:

  • No one faces a life-limiting illness or loss without a compassionate community to turn to.
  • Families can access free, professional grief counselling and therapeutic programming.
  • Hospice programs continue to create meaningful moments for clients and their families.

Together, We Build Community

Beth Donovan Hospice is more than a care provider; we are a community. From our volunteers who donated 3,753 hours this year to the families who find solace in our programs, your support helps ensure no one is left to deal with illness or grief alone.
